Winter 2023. The season was coming to an end in Sierra Nevada, and the snow was slowly beginning to fade. It felt as if the mountain still had one last story to tell. The idea came almost instinctively: organize a freestyle ski and snowboard event before winter disappeared completely. There was no long-term plan, no major budget, no safety net — just one week. And then, unexpectedly, it snowed.
That snowfall changed everything. It gave us a small and fragile window, knowing the snow could soften and vanish within days. We moved fast. Cobaya Misión X Snowriders was born from urgency, friendship, and the simple desire to create something real before the season melted away.
In less than seven days, we brought together riders, partners, energy, and intention. The meeting point was the après-ski area of a hotel in Sierra Nevada, where around 35 riders and more than 80 spectators gathered. From 3 PM until 8 PM, the mountain became a stage for creativity and progression. None of it would have been possible without Pepe, founder of Snowriders, or the support of Mr Laserhood, Kede Kids and Fisio Robles, who believed in the mission from the very beginning.
The format broke away from traditional competition structures. It wasn’t only about winning — it was about reimagining freestyle through four creative missions. The first demanded style: every trick had to include a grab to count, whether on a jump or a rail. The second focused on flat tricks, completely open — before the tube, after it, entering or exiting with skate-inspired flow. The third mission pushed riders into experimentation: tricks without one binding, without both, or even with a single ski — controlled chaos, improvisation, and pure creativity. The final session, best trick, opened the door to anything possible, raising the level and energy until the last light of the afternoon.
What stood out most wasn’t the outcome, but the atmosphere. Friends from the Sierra coming together, skiers and snowboarders sharing the same setup, pushing themselves to try tricks they had never attempted before. Everyone won, because everyone progressed. Bello, our speaker, carried the rhythm of the afternoon, turning every run into a shared moment.
Cobaya Misión X Snowriders was more than an event organized against the clock. It was proof that when mountain, community, and intention align, something powerful happens. The snowfall was the catalyst. The mission was the gathering. And the true victory was remembering that freestyle is more than technique — it is culture, friendship, and collective creation, lived fully before the snow disappears.
